Raybestos PRODUCT TRANSITION
Raybestos has long needed to consolidate some product groups. Weve had Raymold, Blue Box, Brute Stop, White Box and any number of other labels. Picking brake pads to stock was an intimidating process.
Raybestos is about to fix all that. Most product lines will be consolidated, and somelike hardwarewill be a complete revision. All product lines will be organized into 3 categories: Service Grade, Professional Grade, Advanced Technology.
Heres a rough outline:
FrictionPads & Shoes14 pad choices will become 8
Service Grade replaces Raymold and will include Ceramic where it is OE-specified. Red box with new graphic design.
Premium Grade will continue with redesigned blue box, will include organic, metallic, or ceramic as OE.
Advanced Technology replaces SuperStop, Brute Stop, STS, Quiet Stop and a few others. Material will be based on application and expected duty. For example, an F350 pad set would be more like the old SS series, while a new Impala pad set would likely be ceramic. Where OE is ceramic, the replacement will be ceramic.
Brake Shoes will come in one flavor Blue box Premium Grade.
Hydraulics: Blue Box only, Raymold will transitioned into Blue Box
Drums & RotorsBlue Box PG numbers will get a new label and an R suffix. Many applications will also offer Advanced Technology rotors with a higher level of finish, including black satin heat-proof coating of all non-friction surfaces, OE specs on fin count & style etc. A visibly premium product with a No-Turn Guarantee.
Overall, the new packaging is a nice step up, with foam inserts to protect pads from chipping, plastic shrink wrap on even the Service Grade. More pads will come with wear sensors and include rubber-coated abutment clips for noise suppression. And those AT rotors look pretty cool.
These changes will take place over the next 12 months. Your WM salesman will be working with you at each stage.

June Fathers Day Sale is coming up. Last year this one worked well. This is the month all this is put together so if you have changes to make to your store information or distribution amount/method, please give Rex a call before April 20.
Tool & Equipment sale for 2nd Quarter will be sent out this week. Be sure to check the price sheet for substitutions and availability.
Do A Car Care Vehicle Check-Up
CCC members who hold a qualifying Car Care Vehicle Check-Up event can qualify for a $500 reimbursement.
To qualify:
Order a Point-of-sale starter kit from www.carcare.org or join the Car Care Professional Network ($50 enrollment) and receive a the Point-of-Sale starter kit as a benefit.
Register the event on www.carcare.org
Have at least one local group involved in the promotion Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Church Groups, Athletic Groups, MDQ, Vo-Tech School, etc.
Turn in a minimum of 25 properly completed inspection forms Turn in three photos of the event
Submit all receipts for expenses
Once the proof of performance has been received at Headquarters and verified, a $500 check will be issued to the shop.

Airtex Engine Management has been a hit on new coverage alone. At WM we are seeing significant movement on parts we never carried before. Proliance is our primary line, replacing Comfort Temp but still with the XHC line code.
Delphi heater cores are stocked for applications where there is a price or fitment advantage, primarily GM applications where Delphi is OE.
Visteon Heater cores are stocked for the same reason as Delphithey are OE on FoMoCo products and have an advantage in price and/or fitment.
Set up all 3 in your cataloging for the best product offering in the region.

Comfort Temp - Big Changes
You may not realize it, but your AC & temperature control line has undergone some major changes in the last 12 months. WM has moved away from the old one source fits all method. In essence, WM has gone straight to the companies that supply the brand names, picked the best source for each SKU, and pulled it all together under a single line. A great deal of effort and research has resulted in a significant competitive advantage for you. The net result is the same as if you moved up one notch on the auto parts food chain. The differences are startling!
Please convey this to your customers who may not realize you have a great price on OE-quality A/C parts. Invite them to compare prices with you.
Mid-March we reported a big drop in refrigerant pricing. Now it is starting to go the other way as the weather warms up. Buy earlier rather than late.
