The folks at Falls Farm & Auto recently reminded us that JCON users can track sales of cash customers without entering them in the system as a cash account:
--------------------------------------------------------
Want to track sales history on JCON CASH CUSTOMER?? Your JCON has the ability to track several customer names under one account number. Most people use this to track repeat walk-in customers under the CASH CUSTOMER account
While in POS @ CASH CUSTOMER, press
<F11> SPECIAL FUNCTIONS
Option # 13 Preferred Customers
a. Enter customer info
b. <F7> to find customer that is already entered
c. <F7> again for customer detail or <F8> for purchase history
d. <enter> to select customer for POS
Thanks to Falls Farm & Auto for the reminder about this little-used feature.
--------------------------------------------------------------
This got Bryan Jackson, of Bryan's Auto Parts in Eastland to thinking of other uses for this feature. Like most of us, his store people have been trying to find a good way to track tax-exempt "Farm Use" cash sales. So here's what they did:
Enter a new cash customer account. Cust# is 'FARM'.
Set it to not charge tax.
Customer name: FARM USE SALE
Billing address: TAX FORM ON FILE
Billing City: SIGNATURE BELOW
When a new cash customer wants to buy something for farm use, they have them fill out a form, then they enter the sale under the FARM customer number, then use the procedure above to enter the individual.
This looks like it would solve a problem that most jobbers seem to have.
