VIN lookup
You can now enter a VIN number in the PartsLink Powerbox. click on "Select Vehicle" and watch it fill in make, model and engine information.
All this information is not actually contained in the VIN itself. Activant has built a database of vehicle information based on data from the OEMs.
Arguably, it's more work to type in a full VIN than make, model, engine. But if Mom is stopping to pick up something for Dad's truck, and she has no clue what it is , exactly, then maybe she has a proof of insurance in her purse that lists all the household vehicle. And their VIN #s.
Also, it some point it may be feasible to scan the VIn right through the windhsild, walk back inside and transfer it to the computer. or JCON.
Hide Display Cost
The default display shows list price and cost side by side.
There is now a new [$] button next to the "Check Availability" button.
Click on it and the cost column is hidden, but List is still there.
Click again and cost is back, but scrambled. 20.59 becomes 59020 (cents first, a zero, then dollars)
One more click gets you back to the default.
This is useful if you have a customer looking over your shoulder. It apppears to retain the last setting until you log out, but it always returns to the default display when you re-enter PartsLink.
